Flickr Stories: From the Beginning

As I was browsing through my Flickr account a while back to find pics for a post, I realized how many things I never wrote about while I was living in Florida because I was a) so incredibly busy all the time, and b) rarely had a decent internet connection. So I thought I would start a series of telling the stories behind some of the pictures floating around in my account (There are almost 4500!) or showing little bits and pieces of Disney World that you might not be familiar with.

I decided to start with my oldest pics (thus the title of this post) and work my way forward. I'm obviously not doing *every* photo, since that would take like a decade, but I thought it would be fun to share a few.

Up first is Dinosaur Gertie. Gertie lives in the lake at Disney's Hollywood Studios (formerly MGM Studios), and is home to a small ice cream kiosk. I'm not sure why, but I love her dearly.

A nearby sign explains her history:

My favorite parts of Disney World are the details that most people don't notice. With Gertie, it is her footprints. On the opposite side of the lake, you will find these:

Most people walk right past without noticing them, and many of those that do never connect them with the dinosaur in the lake! I love how the pavement has "cracked" from her weight!
