Lets address the dress.

I've seen soooo many Royal Wedding blog posts over the last few days, but nobody seems to share my opinion: I didn't like the dress.

It isn't that there's anything that wrong with the dress itself, it's fine. It's just that my first reaction when I saw it was, "That's IT?" Everyone has been speculating over the dress for months, so my expectations were high. Plus, I feel like if the wedding is SO HUGE, the dress itself should be an event, too.

For example:

Yes, Diana's dress was kind of crazy-go-nuts. And there's no way you could wear something so 80s fab today. But holy cow, that was a DRESS. There's no way you could call that boring or safe. The thing had its own zip code.

Example B:

First, I never knew the Queen had such awesome boobage. This dress isn't totally out there, but it still has that air of "I'm totally the Queen, and you are not." I like that in a dress.

I think what really bothers me is that it keeps being called a McQueen. Yes, Sarah Burton did the dress, and yes, she is in charge of the house of McQueen now that he's gone, but that dress is SO. NOT. MCQUEEN.

Burton. NOT MCQUEEN.

Alexander McQueen has been my favorite designer for ages. He was fashion's bad boy, l'enfant terrible. McQueen was about shock value, about emotional reactions, about controversy. He was the total opposite of a sweetheart neckline and lace sleeves. That dress was fine, and fine for a regular wedding, but it wasn't royal wedding worthy, and it was NOT McQueen.

THIS is McQueen:

And THIS is McQueen:

(S/S 2010 is my favorite runway show EVER, btw.)

And of course, this is McQueen:

(Spring 2003 is probably my 2nd favorite McQ collection)

Was anyone else expecting...more?

Yes!!! So expecting more. I didn't actually like the dress, but I kept thinking of Diana's too...which was 80s Fab, and embroidered with the coat of arms I believe from her family. A. DRESS. Kate's? Not so much. Oh well.
