"I have always believed that hope is that stubborn thing inside us that insists, despite all the evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us so long as we have the courage to keep reaching, to keep working, to keep fighting." - President Obama's Acceptance Speech, Nov 2012

Elected to the Senate this week: the first disabled woman, first openly gay woman, first Asian woman. It makes me think of Joss Whedon's reply when asked why he always writes strong female characters, "Because you are still asking me that question." Well done, America, for taking steps towards a future when it's no longer news when we elect someone that's not an old white dude. Thanks for the hope for a brighter future.

Holy crap. I LOVE Joss Whedon's response to that ridiculous question.
