JingleJam Giveaway Hop - Platinum Pixs Giveaway - *4 Winners!* Over $400 in Prizes!

Welcome to the Jingle Jam Giveaway Hop hosted by MamaNYC and Cheap Is The *New* Classy! We’ve organized this giveaway event in order to kickoff the holiday season with a bang. Let’s get ready to jingle and jam with some amazing prizes geared towards music and everything else. This event will run from December 1-15th, so you will have plenty of time to enter all of our giveaways!

I've partnered with Platinum Pixs to offer some seriously cool prizes that would make great gifts even for that person who has everything! And to sweeten the deal, there won't just be one winner, there will be four! Ready to hear what you can win?

How long have you had those boxes of photos sitting around, just waiting to be scrapbooked or put into albums? Platinum Pixs offers an array of photo services including scanning, photography and photo restoration, and they can turn your photos into awesome keepsakes like photo books, DVD slideshows, calendars, or canvas prints to display in your home!

So, what can you win??

Pixs Memory Book

First, TWO winners will each win a photo scanning package! (One 200 photo package valued at $150, and one 100 photo package valued at $100!)

Each photo scanning package comes with:
  • Scanning for all photo prints including albums, slides, and negatives with minor cleaning and color corrections.
  • A Pixs Memory Book with CD Set
  • Archiving Service
  • Return shipping is included
This is an AWESOME opportunity to back up your favorite photos on CD in case something should happen to the originals! Each of your images is carefully handled by a trained technician. The photos are then cleaned and color corrected one at a time to make sure each one looks their best! Your photos are then archived to the photo backup service so that they will never be lost to a computer crash or disaster! This also makes it super easy to order extra copies of your photo books, DVDs, prints or CDs in the future!

But wait! We have two MORE prizes to give away! Platinum Pixs is also going to bless one of my readers with an 11"x14" canvas photo print valued at $65.50, and another winner with a 16"x20" photo print valued at $93! (Please note that for these two prizes, shipping is not included. Shipping would be approx. $10 and $15 respectively.) Not only do canvas prints look great on your walls, but they are resistant to smudges and fingerprints, long-lasting and easy to keep clean.

This would be an amazing way to show off your family portraits, wedding photos, graduation photos, or that super cute pic of your kid meeting Mickey Mouse!

For a limited time, Platinum Pixs is offering my readers some amazing saving on scanning and canvas prints, too, so if you don't win one of the giveaways, you can still get an awesome deal!

Get 50% off Canvas Prints with code CMCP50 and 33% off Photo Scanning with code CMPS33!

The Nail Files!

This is my first time linking up for The Nail Files!

Know what is super awkward? Trying to take a picture of your own nails without doing the classic beauty blogger "hold the bottle while showing the nails" pose. These little bottles were too tiny, so this was the closest I could manage! (My hand cramped up like crazy, too!)

I love these little Bon-Bons polishes. They're sold at Wal-Mart for like 88 cents, and I think I've even blogged about my love for them before! I freehanded the tips, so they're not super straight, but c'est la vie!

Pre/Post Holiday De-Stressing Fun!

If you are are reading this, I guess it's safe to say you survived being around your crazy family for Thanksgiving and crazy bargain hunters during Black Friday. If you're like me, you're out of the food coma, but not quite ready to dive into decking the halls or jingling bells yet. Thus, I present a few excellent time-wasters to help you sit around and procrastinate on ye olde internets, instead!

Were there any culinary disasters at your Thanksgiving dinner? (If so, I totally want to hear about 'em in the comments!) Perhaps checking out these Weight Watchers Cards from 1974 will make you feel a little better.

mmm, pudding

so... confused...
"Sometimes salmon will come to the big city full of dreams. Only to wind up used, and mangled, and reconstituted, and all tarted up in some kind of sick, horrifying salmon drag.

Look, it's still trying to spawn. With lemons. It's confused. Oh, man, so sad."

Maybe now people will believe me when I say the house was TOTALLY clean 5 minutes ago and blame the cats. Check out Animals Being Dicks for more awesomeness. I'm especially fond of this one, because this happens at my house on an almost daily basis:

This site is oddly soothing. Just trust me. Also, this exists.

Treats!

My cats have a pretty tough life. Just after I posted a review of the cat food from Chewy.com that they got to try out last month, I got an email asking if they would also like to check out some some treats by Felidae, a natural, holistic cat food company. After a long day of laying in the sun, playing with toy mice, and giving themselves two hour baths, they're now expected to eat treats, too? Being a cat is so hard!

Felidae TidNips Chicken & Rice Cat Treats

These

These have been a big hit so far! They're a bit larger than your average treat, so I usually break them in half, especially for the kittens. However, their length does come in handy if you want to try to convince your cat to be adorable and stand on his hind legs to get it! (My cats refuse to do this, btw. Bear took one look at my outstretched hand, raised up a couple of inches, and smacked me with his paw as if to say "This is not happening. Act right!"

Extreme Treat Close-up!

They are pretty soft, kind of the consistency of a protein/nutrition bar for people. (The only comparison I could think of!) This is handy in my house because my oldest kitty, Tallulah Jane, had to have several teeth pulled earlier this year, so chewing anything too crunchy can be tough for her.

Jasper volunteered to be the designated "Hey, Cat! Let me take your picture for my blog!" cat this time around:

Will pose for treats.

They're made with Vitamin E and Omega-3 fatty acids to keep your cats healthy while they snack! I'm lucky that my cats are still so fascinated by watching my computer mouse move that they haven't noticed that they could just click stuff and get many more bags of these to show up!

Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Bond!

*Thanksgiving: Had a pretty quiet Thanksgiving with my mom this year! I don't eat turkey, and she isn't a huge fan, either, so we just did the whole mashed potatoes/gravy/stuffing thing instead. And the most important part:

I ended up spending a lot of the day napping, not due to food coma (sadly) but because I woke up with a dislocated shoulder and out of place neck, so I wasn't really feeling so awesome. Not a bad holiday overall, though!

*I just noticed that there really aren't any Thanksgiving songs! What's up with that? I think I'm going to start putting together a Thanksgiving playlist next year, so if you have any songs that you think would fit, leave 'em in the comments below! So far the only thing that has come to mind is Be Grateful by The Farm!

*Black Friday: I have never really been one for Black Friday shopping, more because it's super cold this time of year than due to the whole early morning hours thing. Plus, I hate crowded shopping, and I rarely see any deals that interest me enough to go after them. I did kind of do a little Black Friday shopping trip yesterday, though! One of my favorite grocery stores offered a coupon for $10 off $50, which is pretty rad if you ask me. It's a little far from my house, but I'd been planning to make a trip there this week anyway because I was almost totally out of food and they have the best organic and international sections around! I ended up spending a total of $42 after my discount, and got a ton of stuff! YAY!

This was about halfway through my shopping trip, so I got several more things not pictured here, including 2 4-packs of Starbucks Espresso DoubleShots (aka the only thing that keeps me alive), a 6-pk of Fiji Water (aka the only water worth drinking) and a bottle of Neuro Bliss, which I've been wanting to try.

One reason I love this particular store is that they carry every flavor of the Honest Kids juice pouches! My Target sells them a lot cheaper (Around $4 instead of the $6 I paid for these), but they only have the berry lemonade and superfruit punch flavors. I almost bought the grape (my favorite!) in addition to the tropical flavor in the pic, but I just couldn't justify spending $12 on juice pouches in one trip, even if I was kind of getting them "free"!

The tea on the left is also a-mazing! It's $2 a bottle, though, so I almost never buy it. Wish I could find it somewhere for cheaper!

If you didn't guess from the pic, couscous was on sale! (3 for $5, instead of the $2.79 each I usually pay!) That was a big motivating factor in making the long drive to this store! I got 6 of the kind that was on sale (Near East) in various flavors, and then grabbed one box of a brand I've never tried. I think it's safe to say I'm all set with couscous for the month!

Squeaky was also pretty happy about my shopping trip, because he is obsessed with grocery bags:

He has odd hobbies. Speaking of Squeakerific, my friend Tara found the sailor costume I've been wanting for him at her local PetCo and picked it up for me, so we will FINALLY get to see him in that hat soon! (I talked about this in my Halloween tag vlog!)

*Speaking of vlogging, I think I may follow the lead of Miss Glamorazzi/The Gridmonster (who does awesome vlogs) and do Vlogmas this year! (Vlogging every day in December until Christmas). I have a few ideas for vlogs to make during that time, but if you have any ideas or suggestions, I would LOVE to hear them!

*For those of you that do surveys online for extra cash, I totally recommend Poll Buzzer! They don't seem to send surveys that often (I think I've only gotten 3 in the month or so I've been a member), but when they do it is just a single question that takes like 5 seconds to answer, and you get $1 deposited straight to your PayPal for answering. Kinda refreshing after having done so many 20+ minute surveys for the same amount of money!

*Remember last month when I was all "If I don't finish altering 5 dresses by thrift store sale day, I totally can't go!"? HAHAHAH. No. I only finished one sewing project in that time, but I had good reasons (mourning my sweet kitty, and the fact that my mom borrowed my sewing machine and effed it up. ARRGH.) I needed the morale boost, so I went anyway. Totally glad I did, because I got some AWESOME stuff! I really need to make some progress on the actual sewing and altering, though, because the "To be altered" piles are taking over my house!

*If you haven't entered my Friends Prize Pack Giveaway yet, get on that! Last time I checked there were only 40 entries so far!

*BOND! I'm a huge James Bond fan, so when I found out there was a Bond marathon on SyFy on Thanksgiving night, I ended up watching the last half of Die Another Day, and then all of Goldeneye. I just turned the TV on a little bit ago and found the marathon is back tonight, Live and Let Die. Live and Let Die is one of my least favorites (though it's nowhere near as bad as Moonraker), but it does contain my favorite line ("There's no sense in going off half-cocked". after Solitare asks if they can go for round 2.) Thunderball is on next, and it's one of the very few I haven't seen, so I know what I'm doing till at least 4 a.m.! (Thunderball would be an amazing name for a gay porn, btw.)

Who is your favorite Bond? I haven't seen Skyfall yet, by the way, but I really hope to catch it while it is still at IMAX!

Current November Status

rad

Current books: Zelda: A Biography by Nancy Milford and Unfamiliar Fishes by Sarah Vowell
Current music:
Current guilty pleasure:
Current color:
Current drink:
Current food: I am surprisingly into the holiday time Sugar Cookie Pop Tarts!
Current favorite show: Yikes. You know what? I'm not sure! I watch SO little TV, and as of late the few shows I do watch haven't been doing much for me. For instance, whatever magical something Hart of Dixie had in season 1, it seems to be gone this season. I just can't bring myself to care about the new kids on Glee. Even Honey Boo Boo has abandoned me. I think my favorite show right now may seriously be Bob's Burgers.
Current wish list: I'm so in love with this bedding set from Target. I've been using the same 2 comforters since high school, so I'm in SERIOUS need of an upgrade! It's like $90, though, so unless I win a Target gift card soon, it probably isn't in the cards for a while!
Simply Shabby Chic® Cabbage Rose Comforter - Blue
Current needs:  Dentist appointment! I had one for this week, but I had to reschedule (LONG story that I'll skip telling because it makes me super grumpy.)
Current triumphs: I unsubscribed from EIGHT different email lists this morning. Feeling like a total adult.
Current bane of my existence: The neighbor's absurdly loud and barky dogs.
Current celebrity crush: Darren Criss continues to be the perfect human.
Current indulgence: Is it weird that I feel totally spoiled for spending $5 on 3 candles yesterday? I almost NEVER spend money on non-necessities, but I was in a really cranky mood yesterday. 3 candles and some frozen yogurt later, I was pretty okay.
Current blessing: I love that it's almost Thanksgiving and we haven't gotten snow yet! Today is actually even in the low 60s. Please let this be a warm Winter!
Current slang: I don't think I've been saying anything new!
Current outfit: I've been wearing the grey Beatles sweatshirt I got on sale at Kohls for $7 a LOT. Fall is cold, y'all.
Current excitement: I know some people are super against it, but I LOVE that they're adding Starbucks to the Main Street Bakery at Magic Kingdom! I love the bakery the way it is, but having a SBux on property is MAJOR. Especially if we get Cast Member discounts.
Current mood: Missing someone a LOT.
Current link: I am surprised that catsforgold.com isn't something I thought of. Also, my friend Anji linked me to this livestream of a mama cat and her kittens. You know, because I don't spend enough time looking at cats as it is. I SO wish I'd done something like this when Ally had kittens! When I just checked in, there were over 9,000 people watching!

(questions lovingly stolen from here)

New Favorite Lip Balm!

Winter means dry lips, which means an excuse to buy fun new lip products! Even though I already have about a bazillion different lip glosses and lip balms, I couldn't resist picking up the Crazy Girl lip balm when it showed up on EdenFantasys! I had one of those "Do I REALLY need another lip balm?" moments before putting it in my cart, but I'm glad I got it!

Crazy Girl lip balm - Lip balm

This is pretty awesome stuff. It has a light fruity scent, but that fades fairly quickly once it is applied. What really impressed me was how long lasting it is! I have so many lip balms that disappear a minute or two after I apply them, but I could still feel this one for a long time! It's not sticky or goopy, it just gives your lips a little bit of moisture and softness. LOVE IT! It's sold for $6.99, but you can get 15% off with promo code SP3, and you can always earn a few Eden Points by doing searches, adding stuff to your wish list, etc (I have a whole post about that here) to knock the price down even more! Other cool things about it: It's made in the USA, has SPF 15 to protect against both UVA and UVB rays, contains alove vera and vitamin E and is PABA-free. This would be great as a stocking stuffer, or as part of a gift basket! I do wish it came with some kind of packaging for gifting purposes (you just get the tube of lip balm itself, no box or display card or anything). Still, with a little bow or a mini gift bag, it would be a great gift for people you don't know all that well, too, since everyone needs lip balm this time of year, and the scent/taste is something that pretty much anyone will like.

I can't remember if I ever mentioned it, but a month or so ago the site started offering free shipping on orders over $35, instead of their old policy of free shipping on orders $59+. I'm really stubborn about not paying for shipping (like... ever), so I love that I don't feel like I have to wait until I want a lot of things before I order now!

Bath & Body Works Fall Mini Candle Jars Are Taking Over My House!

I have been kind of obsessed with the mini candles from Bath and Body Works lately, so I thought I'd give you guys a peek at the ones I've bought and what I thought of them!

I was in a pretty bad mood yesterday, so I decided to go use the coupon I had for a free mini candle with any purchase. My Bath and Body Works (They tend to abbreviate themselves as "BBW", but I just can't type that without laughing.) has the minis on sale for 2 for $5, so my plan was to buy two and use my coupon to get a 3rd free, which made it like $1.67 each. Score!

The Toffee Crunch was the first one I picked up. This is my new 2nd favorite! Love at first sniff! To me it smells a lot like caramel, a total sugary sweet overload. The scent on this one is super strong- even like 20 minutes after I blew it out, the smell was still as strong as if it was still burning! It is described as "A merry medley of crunchy toasty English toffee, salted pretzels and decadent caramel drizzle combine to create a mouthwatering scent. " I don't smell the salted pretzel at all. I'll be using this one sparingly since the scent is sooo strong, but I do really like it!

I talked about this candle in my Falling for Fall vlog. This is my absolute favorite! I think it smells a little too sweet to be baguette scented, I'd call it more of a vanilla scone or something. Still, whatever you call it (A baguette candle by any other name would smell as sweet!) it is totally my kind of scent. It's sweet but not TOO strong. It gives the room a nice smell without being too obvious. I've used the one that I showed in that vlog so much that I picked up a 2nd one yesterday!

According to the official description, it is "A classic Italian cocktail with a twist mixes bubbly white peach, tart blackcurrant, jasmine and a splash of juicy orange."   This is the candle that I'm kind of on the fence about. Just sniffing the unlit candle, it smells amazing. Definitely fruity, I can smell the orange and peach, and it does have that certain alcohol scent to it, too. However, I don't like the scent as much when it is actually burning. It takes on a kind of perfumey quality, and the scent is just way too strong for me. I probably won't end up using this one very much.

Farmstand Apple wasn't on the BBW (ha!) site right now, so I snapped this super high quality pic with my phone. This is my 3rd favorite. It's a very crisp apple scent. I like that it smells like actual apples, rather than a fake apple scent. The label claims it also has notes of pear blossom and oak, but to me it smells like pure apple.

This is the scent I got in my Influenster box, and so far it is the only one that I really do not like. It does smell like black pepper, but that's not an appealing scent to me at all. This one also makes me sneeze like crazy! It has pretty mixed reviews; This seems to be a love it or hate it type of scent.

If you're a Bath and Body Works fan, which scents are your favorites? If you use other candles, what is burning at your house these days?

Note- This is NOT a sponsored post. I got one of the candles free in my Influenster box, and another free via a coupon, but the rest were paid for like the peasant I am.

Sushi for cats and other awesomeness- Another Chewy.com Review!

Yo, fellow crazy cat ladies!  This post is for you!

If you've been around for a while, you might remember when I did a review of MrChewy.com! They were lovely enough to let me do another review, so I had a blast picking out what to order! (No, seriously, I think I drove my friend Katie nuts with all of my exclamations over IM about the cute cat food and treats.)

First, they've changed their name! Instead of MrChewy, it's now just Chewy.com. Easy enough to remember! They have over 140 brands, which I took as an opportunity to check out a few I don't have access to in this little town. One thing that I didn't realize when I ordered is that in addition to cat and dog food, treats, litter and health, they now carry a selection of toys, too!  I wish I'd noticed earlier, I would have totally picked up these KONG Crinkle fish toys for the kittens!

KONG Crinkle Fish Cat Toy

In other news, they now have a Pinterest account! It's full of seriously cute dog and cat pics, LOL cats, fun infographics, and more!

I ended up ordering 3 different brands of wet food, a bag of dry food, and a bag of treats.

My order arrived ABSURDLY fast. I think I ordered on a Monday, and it was at my doorstep on Wednesday! Shipping is free on orders $49+, and apparently it is super fast shipping! Score!  Here's what I ended up with this time:
Merrick Gourmet Entrees Cat Canned Food Variety Pack
Merrick Gourmet Entrees Cat Canned Food Variety Pack- $9.99 for an 8-pack
I'd never seen this food before, but I am familiar with the Before Grain canned foods that Merrick also makes. This is a variety pack (duh) with 8 different flavors: California Roll, Cowboy Cookout, Grammy's Pot Pie, Southern Delight, Surf and Turf, Thanksgiving Day Dinner, Turducken, and New England Boil. I'm a sucker for interesting flavor names, so these were right up my alley! Turducken is exactly what you think- turkey, duck and chicken! Southern Delight includes chicken, catfish and crawfish with brown rice and veggies.
Merrick California Roll Canned Cat Food
I thought "California Roll" was the most creative- salmon, tuna, crab, brown rice and veggies. Of course, once you open it, it looks noooothing like sushi:

But the cats didn't seem to mind that at ALL!

The next wet food I tried is this variety pack from BFF!

I love variety packs, especially for brands I'm not that familiar with since you can try several different flavors! If you remember my last Chewy.com review, you may recall that we tried the BFF in the Tuna and Tilapia Twosome flavor.  The variety pack wasn't available yet back then, so I was excited to see it this time around! The flavors in this pack are Tuna Too Cool, Tuna & Pumpkin Valentine, Tuna & Salmon Soulmates, and Tun & Chicken 4EVA. You can either get a 8-pack of larger cans (2 of each flavor) or a 12-pack of smaller cans (3 of each). The only thing I'd change is to add more variety! Chewy.com carries 8 different kinds of BFF, so I know at least that many exist, so I'd love to see an 8-pack with one of each!

I have to admit, my favorite thing about this brand is the adorable packaging!

BFF Tuna and Salmon Soulmates Canned Cat Food
Do they know how to market to cat ladies like myself or what? How cute is that??

The tuna and pumpkin variety

We did have weird incident with this food. When the cats tried the Tuna and Chicken 4EVA variety, two of them threw it up instantly. (Ewww.) The other cats devoured it. I'm not sure if we got a bad can, or if trying too many new foods in one week was just too much for their digestions or what. We didn't have any problems with any of the other varieties, so I'm still giving this variety pack a thumbs-up. They especially seemed to like the tuna and pumpkin!

Next, we have what I like to refer to as "kitty crack":

Greenies Feline SmartBites Digestive Care Salmon Flavor Cat Treats

These treats, you guys. They are apparently the greatest thing my cat Jasper has ever had in his life, because he is OBSESSED with them. The other cats like them well enough, but Jasper is a ginormous addict. I'm pretty sure he dreams about them. I'm sure that if I left the bag where he could get to it, he'd eat the whole thing, possibly including the bag itself.

I originally picked up a bag of these at the pet store around a month ago because Jasper was having some delightful "I'm going to throw up everywhere, mommy!" issues. I wanted to see if the pet store would have anything to settle a kitty stomach before I shelled out the big bucks for a trip to the vet. While there is apparently no kitty version of Pepto Bismol, I did find these and figured it was worth a shot! The day I started giving them to Jasper, the vomiting stopped. Now, I'm obviously not a vet, and his stomach problems clearing up could have nothing to do with the treats, and you shouldn't take your cat health advice from a blog, and blah blah blah. But still, these seemed to make his stomach much happier, and he flippin' LOVES them. All the package says is that they have ingredients that help maintain a healthy digestive tract and metabolism- there's not much in the way of explanation.

One thing on my wish list for the next time I get to order from Chewy.com is this bag of treats:
Pet Naturals of Vermont Smelly Cat Chews

The info claims it makes the litter box less smelly and... um... reduces cat farts. Let me just tell you- if this is true, I NEED THIS IN MY LIFE. Remember back when Toey got a nasty parasite? Most of the cats have had it to a lesser extent since then (it's passed among cats, and you can't really do anything to prevent it, you just have to sort of wait it out), and let's just say it has made the litter box UNPLEASANT. The only thing that kept me from ordering them this time was the price tag ($8.99 for 45 treats. Most cat treats of a similar size are $2-4). I kind of regret not getting them now, though, because my curiosity is driving me nuts! If you've ever tried these, I'd love to hear what you thought!

We also tried the Nature's Recipe Chicken with Beef Recipe in Broth.
Nature's Recipe Chicken with Beef Recipe in Broth Canned Cat Food

I loved that this came in little plastic tubs with peel-off labels instead of cans. I don't really know why, but I really prefer plastic containers! Most of my cats loved these, except Jasper, who is basically the pickiest cat ever. He loved the broth, but not the actual food. I wonder if it was a matter of texture, since this is like shredded meat, and he's used to either pate or chunks? Who knows, cats are weird. (Especially Jas. He's my "special snowflake".)

Last but not least, we received the Nature's Variety Instinct Grain-Free Duck Meal and Turkey Meal Dry Cat Food:

Nature's Variety Instinct Grain-Free Duck Meal and Turkey Meal Dry Cat Food

I got a free sample of this a while back, and my cats LOVED it, so I was thrilled to see that Chewy.com carried this brand so I could get a bigger bag! I went with the 2.2 lb size. This food is totally free of artificial flavors or colors, and has no chemical preservatives. All of my cats seemed to love devouring this, and they're picky about their dried food!

Huge thanks to Chewy.com for hooking up my little cat family with all of this food! You can find them on Facebook and Twitter, plus their website (obviously) and the Pinterest account I linked above!

Hope

"I have always believed that hope is that stubborn thing inside us that insists, despite all the evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us so long as we have the courage to keep reaching, to keep working, to keep fighting." - President Obama's Acceptance Speech, Nov 2012

Elected to the Senate this week: the first disabled woman, first openly gay woman, first Asian woman. It makes me think of Joss Whedon's reply when asked why he always writes strong female characters, "Because you are still asking me that question." Well done, America, for taking steps towards a future when it's no longer news when we elect someone that's not an old white dude. Thanks for the hope for a brighter future.

Influenster Beauty Box!

The fine folks at Influenster sent me a snazzy box-o-stuff, so I thought I'd show you guys what I thought and share my first thoughts!

I totally forgot to add a photo of the eye shadow being worn before I uploaded, so here's that!

I was sent these products for free, but I'm not being paid to (or even required to) post about them. If you want an Influenster invite, just let me know! Thanks for watching!

Making Makeup Fun! The Revlon Expression Experiment.

This post brought to you by Revlon. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have always felt that people who use makeup just to cover "flaws" are missing out on so much fun. Changing up my makeup from day to day is a simple way to creatively express how I'm feeling that day. Last month I randomly decided to do oceany colors to compliment the Little Mermaid shirt I was wearing, and although they aren't colors I wear that often, I was surprised by how much better I felt dressing and doing my makeup in a way that brought me joy, rather than just focusing on the fashion/beauty aspect of it!

The Revlon Expression Experiment's page's tag line "Prove that beauty is anything but routine" instantly made me think of a quote that I copied from a book recently, "Routine is the most common obstacle to being conscious." I've been trying to be more conscious about how much of my life I just live on autopilot, following the same routines and doing things out of habit, rather than making each day an adventure. That's why seeing Revlon's FB app got me excited, even though I rarely use FB applications. I like that they are encouraging people to step out of their comfort zones, even if it is just with something as simple as trying a new lipstick or nail polish

Basically, the app offers inspiration in the forms of fun challenges (with prizes for the first people who complete them!), articles, tutorials and ideas on how you can shake up your routine. I just love that it's a great inspiration to start small, and then hopefully work up to lots of people living more colorful, creative lives!

How have you been shaking things up lately?
